I have some incredibly exciting, international publishing news that I’ve been itching to share with you…

Je vient de signer un contrat d’édition français pour mes deux romans!*
If you’re not fluent in French, allow me to translate: I have just signed a French contract for my two novels! That’s right, both The Secrets of the Huon Wren and Where the Birds Call Her Name will be translated into French and published by Verso, an imprint of Editions du Seuil.
Am I excited? Bien sûr!
Will I need to make the trip to visit the Paris-based publisher? Mais oui!
But there’s MORE…
Začátkem tohoto roku jsem podepsal smlouvu na překlad mého druhého románu do češtiny.*
And if you’re not fluent in Czech, that means that earlier this year I signed a Czech translation deal with Prostor for my second novel, Where the Birds Call Her Name.
It’s a thrill and an honour to know that my novels will soon find a wider audience, and that their Tasmanian landscapes will be shared with these farflung places. From Stanley to Paris, Caveside to Prague!
I could never have achieved this without the diligent work of my European-based literary agent Sharon Galant, with the support of Thomasin Chinnery and Benython Oldfield from Zeitgeist Agency.
Did I pray for this? You bet! And I’m beyond grateful for the way God opens up opportunities like this or, as my friend (yes you, Sue!) loves to say, keeps on rolling out the red carpet.
What’s Next?
These international translations will go to print in the next 12-18 months, so everything will go quiet before it gets exciting again. In the meantime, I’m laser-focused on the structural edit of my 2027 novel, All Our Wild Beginnings.
The next book launch I’m planning to attend will be for Katherine Johnson’s award-winning new novel Every Wild Soul. Katherine is a beautiful storyteller and person, and I can’t wait to hear her share about this new book, which is set on Tassie’s Maria Island. Why not join me! (Click the photo to be taken to the booking page).

Mother’s Day is Coming
Consider this your reminder: Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 11, a bit over two weeks away. Does your mum have a copy of my novels? If not, I’ve put the links below so you can jump online and order them now. Shopping done!
Booktopia has them on sale at the moment, and will post in time for Mother’s Day if you order by May 1.

That’s all from me!
I hope you’re well, reading wonderful books and enjoying the change of the seasons. Here in Tassie, we’ve had a beautiful run of golden, autumn days, where the sun is still warm, the air is fresh and the trees are giving the hint of change coming.
With autumnal warmth,
Claire.
*Full disclosure: I used Google Translate for the French and Czech lines in this article… my apologies if I didn’t quite nail it!
